Save Money While Getting Crafty in the Classroom

Did you know that most major craft stores (i.e. A.C. Moore, Michaels, etc). offer a 15% discount to teachers?

Did you know that these discounts are good for your ENTIRE purchase?
...even items that are on sale!
...even items that are not classroom related!

Did you know that these discounts are IN ADDITION to sale prices?

Did you know that you can use one of their weekly 40% off coupons AND then they'll take the discount off of that price?

Did you know that if you have a smartphone you can just google the weekly coupon and show them your phone so you don't need to actually cut out a coupon?

Did you know that these stores often price match competitor prices AND take an additional amount off if another store is offering the item cheaper?

Did you know that these stores often carry teacher supplies at this time of year?

I had so much making over my classroom using all craft-store products and love how

Think outside the box. Go save some money. Get creative!

I'm going to be working on some projects for my son's birthday party today that I am loving so much that I think I'm going to duplicate them for the classroom. I'll be back later to post about all the fun we have getting our craft on today!!  All of the materials came from AC Moore at a huge savings thanks to my handy dandy teacher ID.

Speaking of savings...Today is the last day to purchase my Teaching Routines and Procedures Packet at it's discounted introductory price. Did you have a chance to watch the video I created explaining how to plan out each and every procedure and routine you'll need to think about as a teacher? You can access the original post and the video here.

Happy weekend friends!

Where is your favorite place to get yourself a teacher discount?

  2. We don't have A.C. Moore where I live, but I've heard of it. Hobby Lobby recently opened up, and it's HUGE, so is our Joanne's. But I seem to always find something at Michaels which is the smallest of them all. They are also the easiest to use my Teacher Discount at.

  3. I am a sucker for the Staples penny sales! Teachers are able to extend the limit to something like 20 or 25 items. 20 packs of crayons for 20 cents? Yes please!

    1. Staples changed their policy this year. You can now get the 25 items but you have to pay for them at the regular price up front and then you get a rebate later. I don't think I will be using it as much.

    2. I heard this too. I won't use it as much either. Wonder if they will change it back next year if we give them enough bad press. Wonder if it was where they were losing money. I think the rebate is not money back, but a coupon to use in their store.

    3. Staples has changed their penny sales this year -

  7. Barnes and Noble gives a teacher discount card. Once you have it, it is either a 20 or 25% discount off everything - including games and clearance items! You have to renew it once a year. Be sure to have a school id when you sign up. I use it for back to school and Christmas shopping! Wonder if you can use it online as well? hmmmm....

  8. I love them all but hate stipulations! I think it's bizarre that teachers do not get discounts in teaching books at B and N!?! But my fav is J Crew! They do 10% I believe. I found out by accident!

  9. My Michael's won't stack the 15% teacher discount on top of the 40% coupon, but I can get 15% on all but the one item I use the coupon for.

  10. Loft, NYC, Bannana Republic and J Crew give 10% off regular items, but the Limited store here gives me 10% off ALL items, including clearance items! Very nice. I used that discount during the tax free weekend here in Texas and got a $70 pair of pants for $13. Can't beat that.

  14. Here in Australia teachers don't get a discount at Target, or any other store!!! No teacher ID either. Schools give a small $ amount to spend on consumables per year which covers stickytape, chalk etc. So any major expenses such as bulletin boards, boarders, decorations, class books, rewards, etc are usually out of our own pockets. But we also don't have the product range that you all continually mention from places like Target, and definitely no Target Dollar Spot! Maybe there is an online store that ships internationally...

  15. Here in Korea, those there are no discounts for teachers. But there are lots of little stores that have very inexpensive things. So as I see things being made, I go to my favorites stores and try to find something similar. Can't wait to come back to the states. :)

  16. Does anyone know why Hobby Lobby doesn't do teacher discounts?

  17. Half Price Books! Already cheap books for your classroom library + teacher discount = awesome. Also clothing stores like NY&Co & LOFT offer teacher discounts (gotta look good!) But most importantly, I always get 15% off at our local FroYo place :)

  19. Goodwill Stores give a 15% discount to senior citizens - which they describe as over 55 - every Tuesday, so take your mom shopping with you.
BooksAMillion has a 20% discount for teachers and free shipping for teachers.
Joanne's? Lerner New York? I've spent plenty in both but never knew they offered a teacher discount.
Our local dry cleaners offers a teacher discount. Every now and then Publix sponsors a teacher day with discounts if you show a school ID. And that little ID will earn you a discounted seat as a state employee at Atlanta Braves home games and, as available, at UGA (home) Georgia Bulldog football games.

  20. I think FedEx/Kinkos offers 15% off but you have to apply for an educators account 7 - 10 days prior.
